Dr. Katie Birnie, PhD, RPsych, Alberta Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Birnie is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at the University of Calgary and a clinical psychologist at Alberta Children’s Hospital. Dr. Birnie’s expertise spans knowledge generation, synthesis, and translation; she is also a champion for patient engagement. Before joining Alberta Children’s Hospital in 2018, Dr. Birnie completed her PhD at Dalhousie University and predoctoral clinical residency at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto and The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
