Raising Awareness of Weight Bias and Stigma in Healthcare through Lived Experience Education

Dr. Ian Zenlea is a Paediatric Endocrinologist and Clinician Scientist at the Institute for Better Health at Trillium Health Partners and a part-time Assistant Professor in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. At Trillium Health Partners, he is the Lead for the KidFit Health and Wellness Clinic, a paediatric weight management program, and Lead of the Family and Child Health Initiative, a research program that uses community-based approaches to co-design health interventions to promote family and child health.

Christine Heidebrecht is an epidemiologist with a background in anthropology. She is interested in the quantitative and qualitative elements that merge to paint a picture of human health. Christine feels strongly about addressing research questions that seek to reduce health inequities and inform sustainable interventions. She is currently engaged in several operational studies focused on tuberculosis in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
